AI CONSULTING

An AI automation agency that leads with strategy, not tools.

Fishhook is an AI automation agency and AI consultant for small business. Most agencies sell you the tool first and figure out the strategy later. We start with what your business actually does every week, find where AI shifts the work, and build only the pieces that pay back. Strategy first. Builds second.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

Where AI works, where it doesn’t, and the difference between the two.

AI is good at high-volume, low-stakes work where the right answer is one of a few known patterns. Summarizing calls into CRM notes. Drafting follow-up emails. Tagging inbound tickets. Generating proposal drafts from a template and discovery notes.

AI is not yet reliable at low-volume, high-stakes work where judgment is the actual product. Closing a complex deal. Diagnosing why a customer churned. Picking which three projects to take on next quarter. We will tell you not to apply AI to those, even when the budget exists for us to try.

The job of the strategy phase is to draw that line clearly for your specific business, then build only on the right side of it. That is how you end up with automations and agents that keep working a year later, instead of demos that look great in the kickoff and get quietly turned off in month three.

WHAT WE DELIVER

What an AI automation agency actually builds.

Most clients start with the Assessment, then pick one or two builds from the resulting roadmap. The build types below are the most common patterns.

Strategy and assessment.

We map the workflows your business actually runs every week (sales, ops, fulfillment, support) and find where AI shifts hours, reduces error, or opens a category you cannot serve today. The output is written. You take it back to your team and decide what to build.

Custom GPTs.

Trained on your standard operating procedures, reference docs, and historical work. The team uses them through ChatGPT, Claude, or a private interface. Common pattern: a proposal-writer GPT for sales, an onboarding-checklist GPT for new hires, a brand-voice GPT for marketing.

Automation builds.

Pulling data between tools, triggering follow-ups, summarizing meetings into CRM notes. We build with Zapier, Make, n8n, or native APIs depending on what your team can maintain. The automation is part of the engagement, not a hand-off.

Operational agents.

Multi-step agents that complete tasks your team runs the same way every week. Example: an end-of-week reporting agent that pulls metrics from three platforms, drafts the summary, and posts it to Slack for the team to review.

HOW WE WORK

Four phases, from question to handoff.

  1. PHASE 1

    AI Assessment

A 45-minute structured interview and a written roadmap delivered within three business days. Specific tools, ordered by ROI, with named hours saved per week. Founding Cohort pricing while seats last.

    Book the Assessment

  2. PHASE 2

    Pick the build

From the Assessment roadmap you pick one or two highest-leverage items to implement. We scope each as a fixed-fee build. No retainers, no minimum commitment, no software resale margins.

  3. PHASE 3

    Build and hand off

We build the automation, GPT, or agent in your environment using accounts your team owns. You get documentation, training video, and a 30-day support window. You can run it without us by week four.

  4. PHASE 4

    Iterate or expand

Most clients come back after three months with the next item on the roadmap. Some build it themselves. Both work. We optimize for results that justify another engagement, not for retention itself.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Who we work with, and who we don’t.

We turn away more business than we take. Saying no early saves both of us a quarter of wasted budget. The shapes below are the patterns we see most.

GOOD FIT

  • Service businesses spending real hours on repeatable workflows
  • Teams of 5 to 100 who have outgrown manual processes
  • Owners who want AI to lift the team, not replace it
  • Companies with documented SOPs (or willing to write them with us)

NOT A FIT

  • Pre-revenue startups looking for someone to build their product
  • Teams hoping AI will replace a hire they will not make
  • Anyone needing a multi-month full-replacement of human judgment
  • Companies without anyone internally accountable for the rollout
QUESTIONS

Common questions about AI automation and consulting.

What does an AI automation agency do?
An AI automation agency finds the repetitive workflows in your business and builds AI to run them: automations that move data between tools, custom GPTs trained on your processes, and agents that complete multi-step tasks. The good ones lead with strategy, so you only build what pays back. Fishhook handles strategy, the build, and team adoption under one engagement.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes. We work as an AI consultant for small business and mid-sized teams, usually 5 to 100 people, who spend real hours on repeatable work. You do not need a technical team to start. The AI Assessment is built for owners who know their operation cold but are not sure where AI fits.
What exactly is AI consulting?
Three layers of work: strategy (where to apply AI), implementation (building the actual GPTs, automations, and agents), and adoption (training the team to use them). Fishhook does all three under one engagement.
Do I need to know which AI tool I want before I call you?
No. That's what the AI Assessment is for. You describe how your business actually runs, we identify the highest-leverage applications, and you decide what to build. Tool selection happens after the strategy is clear.
Are you affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, or other model providers?
No. We are model-agnostic. We use ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for different jobs because each is better at different things. We are not reselling licenses, so we have no incentive to push one platform over another.
Will AI replace people on my team?
Almost never. The pattern that works is AI lifting your existing team's output: fewer hours on repeatable work, more hours on high-judgment work. Replacement engagements typically fail because they cut the institutional knowledge the model needed to perform.
How long does an engagement take?
The AI Assessment is one week. Implementation builds range from two weeks (a custom GPT) to six weeks (a multi-step agent with data integrations). We give a fixed quote and a delivery date before any work begins.
Where are you located and do you work remotely?
Our office is at 3131 49th Street North in St. Petersburg, FL. We work in person across Pinellas County and remote anywhere in the US. Most engagements are a mix.
What does the Assessment cost?
Founding Cohort pricing applies while seats remain: free for the first 5 clients, $499 for the next 20, $999 thereafter. See the Assessment page for live seat counts.
